Happiness Exercises: Breathing

This time I present a practice as simple as beneficial, so easy to understand how to practice and yet so unknown to most of us.

"Most of us breathe from the throat, but real human beings breathe from their heels." These are words of the great Taoist sage Chuang Tzu, Lao Tzu main follower (founder of Taoism).
Today most people living in medium and large cities have a shallow breathing chronically. This causes that are sleepy, tired, and moody as due to low consumption of oxygen is a malfunction of various organs, including the brain.

The doctor and researcher at Harvard University, Andrew Weil, whose studies have focused on natural remedies to cure and prevent diseases, as well as great advocate of spiritual development as a source of health, we propose this breathing exercise called by him as "The 4-7-8 exercise". This technique helps us to acquire the habit of breathing properly and is very simple. The respiratory cycle, contrary to what most believed, begins with the exhalation of air, at which point the muscle called the diaphragm is activated for inspiration, but we have little air exhaled, inspire little too, if you breathe too much air, inspire deeper and our goal is to achieve a much deeper breathing naturally, so here we go...

  1. Expel all air to stay empty.
  2. Inspire deeply for 4 seconds.
  3. We put up the air for 7 seconds.
  4. Expel the air for 8 seconds.
  5. We start the cycle again 4 seconds of inspiration.
  6. We must make at least 4 consecutive 4-7-8 cycle.
By practicing this simple exercise 3 times a day during 8 weeks you will notice very clearly that the way we breathe has changed markedly, inspire deeper and exhale more air than before, and automatically, which will give us more physical energy and a much greater health. Better health and greater force are critical pieces that must be part of the foundation of our happiness. The simplicity and short time to invest in this simple daily practice make it very compatible with our lifestyle and we do every day, in return we will provide significant benefits, so as usual on this blog, feel love for you, for your being, and put more energy and health in your life, this will give more love to share with others.
