Happiness Exercises: Concentrate your alertness

Those who ordinarily follow the blog know very well that what is promoted here is enjoy a life full of love and happiness, and it is therefore very important to have a healthy mind and educated. The simple practice of which we speak then help us, for sure.

Our mind is a very powerful tool, but like all great tool if not used properly, can harm us. Since this blog does not just want to help promote happiness and love among all mortals, but also learn to better understand and shape our mind, so necessary to our life here.

The busy lives that many we carry it causes stress and can lead, in many cases, acute attacks of nerves or anxiety. This exercise is described by Dr. Andrew Weil and known by most psychotherapists. It is recommended for its simplicity and its high reliability. We can put into practice in any crisis of anxiety or nerves and is also effective to fall asleep, let's see how is:

It consists of three phases, each of which focuses on a different sensory modality: Breathing, sounds and touch:

  • 1. Focus all your alertness on your breath. You must notice as the air goes in and out of your lungs, as fill they and empty, like walking your throat, your voice box and how you feel in and out through your nose or mouth. Should be performed for four breathing cycles (inspiration and expiration), which will take about 10 seconds.

  • 2. And then for about 10 more seconds put your attention on each and every one of the sounds that reach your ears, however slight in degree. If there is only silence (something difficult) focus on it, trying to "hear" the silence.

  • 3. Finally, and for 10 seconds more pay careful attention to everything that touches your skin, clothes, bracelet or maybe a watch, feel the touch your feet inside your shoes or note as touching the lips closed, there are many things we can feel with touch and we are not normally aware.

The full course of the 3 phases we can take us 30 to 40 seconds, and we repeat it about 3 times, or more if we can not calm down soon. Why does this work? When we focus on one point we reduce the amount of stimuli we receive from the environment and the communication with our unconscious mind is increased, we lower the rate of consciousness, is what is commonly referred to as "being more suggestible" and is the technique which is based on hypnosis. That is why if you do this exercise while we mentally repeat "I am increasingly relaxed and calm" our unconscious mind will believe thus, and will make it possible.

As you could see is a simple technique and rapid to perform, it is worth learning and disseminate for everyone to use at some point of extreme nerves or anxiety. At times in life where you traverse difficult situations that result in great nervousness, can be of great help carry it out every day, even if we not suffer none crisis. Everyone has a right and we are in this life to live and enjoy it with love and happiness, so get up and say yes to change if your life situation is not what makes you happy. Remember to feel love for you and all around you.
